Colourful outfits for September
With the start of September, it feels like the weather has transformed overnight. One minute we were basking in late-summer sunshine, and the next my Instagram feed was suddenly awash with Autumnal style inspiration, think rust knits, camel coats, deep burgundy boots.
Now, don’t get me wrong, those shades can look incredible if Autumn is your colour season. But what about the rest of us? If you’re a Summer who glows in soft pinks and cool blues, or a Spring who lights up in bright aquas and corals, all that brown and rust can feel a little… flat. And let’s be honest, some of us just love wearing colour all year round regardless of our palette!
So, I’ve done us all a favour 🥰 and spent some time trawling the shops to find pieces that feel joyful and seasonal without losing your colour confidence. Think of this as your permission slip to step away from head-to-toe khaki and rediscover playful colour as the leaves begin to fall.
A Pop of Red Joy (Winter)
I couldn’t resist this playful mix of denim dungarees and bright red layers — it just feels so full of energy. The broderie blouse softens things up beautifully, giving a feminine touch to the more relaxed dungarees. Add the matching red trainers and cardigan, and suddenly it’s an outfit that’s as fun as it is wearable. The striped tote and rainbow bracelet tie it all together for a look that’s cool, casual, and bursting with personality.

The Romantic Utility Look (Autumn)
This is more typical of the Autumn colours we see at this time of year (yay for all you Autumns) The outfit is the perfect balance of tough and tender. The striped wide-leg trousers and olive jacket have that easy, utility vibe, while the ruffled blouse softens the whole look, making it feel chic and feminine. I’d add tan flats and a mustard bag for warmth, with a printed scarf for that extra touch of polish. It’s earthy and grounded, but still colourful and joyful.

Sunshine in September (Spring)
I love the vibe of this outfit. The bold red skirt paired with a sunshine yellow cardigan feels instantly uplifting, and the graphic tee keeps things fun and modern. The denim jacket grounds it, so the colours pop without feeling overwhelming, while the woven bag adds the perfect touch of texture. With yellow flats to finish, it’s basically bottled sunshine, a bright, happy look for those days when you want your clothes to spark joy and perfect when the weather is turning cooler!

Pastel Playtime (Summer)
This look is all about keeping things soft but colourful. The aqua knit and pink jacket are a dreamy combination, cool, fresh, and playful all at once. Wide-leg jeans keep it easy, while the pink Converse bring in just the right amount of fun. I’d finish with the floral bag and scarf to tie the palette together, plus some light blue hoops for that final joyful touch. It’s laid-back, light, and perfect for days when you want colour to feel effortless.
