Active wear
Every now and then, I end up writing a Joydrop that’s perfectly timed for my own life. Last week, I realised my gym leggings had a hole in them (potentially finding this out during a busy reformer class was not ideal 🫣😂), so I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement.
Vicky also asked about activewear recently, so today’s Joydrop felt like the perfect moment to dive in.
It’s one of those areas that’s easy to overlook, after all, does it really matter if our workout gear suits our colour season? But honestly, it does. Wearing colours that lift you while you’re doing something tough (like working out) makes a big difference to your mood. And colourful workout clothes are just so much more fun!
When it comes to body shape, activewear doesn’t offer much structure, but one simple rule still applies: if you’re conscious of your hips, tummy, or thighs, go for darker bottoms and a lighter or brighter top. It balances everything beautifully, the same principles we think about for our body shape, just in Lycra form.
