Thermals
You will have heard me say this over and over again, but I cannot overstate the difference a good pair of thermals makes to your outfits.
When it’s cold and you don’t want to pile on a million layers, a thin thermal base layer changes everything. It keeps you warm without adding bulk, letting your actual outfit shine.
It means you can keep wearing your pretty dresses without the tights-and-cardigan overload. You can wear your jumpers without feeling chunky or losing your shape. You can wear jeans without freezing. It gives you the freedom to dress how you want to dress, while still feeling properly warm and cosy.
A few quick tips:
You can adjust the neckline of your thermals (carefully cut them lower) so they sit neatly under your clothes.
Don’t worry too much about colours (no one normally sees a thermal) but it’s worth investing in both dark and Light-coloured thermals (as light work best under light items).
Choose thermals designed for comfort (look out for thin smooth fabrics) not just practicality a pair from M&S will feel very different to a pair from an outdoor shop.
Size up if you don’t like anything tight on you, a looser fit still gives warmth without that compressed feeling.
Thermal leggings work brilliantly under wide-leg trousers, jeans, dresses and skirts, completely invisible but so warm.
If you’re sensitive to seams, look for seamless or flat-seam styles to avoid irritation.
