Summer co-ords
A summer co-ord is basically a low-effort outfit that secretly gives you multiple outfits in one.
I absolutely love a summer co-ord. Honestly, I think they are one of the most versatile things you can add to your wardrobe at this time of year, especially if summer dressing sometimes feels like a lot of effort.
Because firstly, you can wear it as a full co-ord, which instantly looks cool and pulled together. It’s one of those outfits that makes people think you’ve really thought about what you’re wearing, when actually the outfit has done most of the work for you.
But then you can also split the pieces up and wear them separately. A co-ord shirt can be worn with shorts, jeans, linen trousers, over a dress, or as a light cover-up over a vest top. The trousers or shorts can be worn with simple t-shirts, vests, blouses, sandals, trainers, jackets, all sorts.
So instead of buying one outfit, you’re almost buying a little mini outfit formula for your wardrobe.
A good question to ask is: “Would I wear both pieces separately?” Because that’s where a co-ord becomes really useful.
The other thing I love about co-ords is that they can really help shape your visual identity.
If you choose one that works with your style words, your colours and your real life, it can almost become a little anchor inside your wardrobe.
A striped linen co-ord might feel relaxed and coastal.
A bright printed co-ord might feel joyful and playful.
A crisp neutral co-ord might feel simple and elegant.
A bold graphic co-ord might feel creative and confident.
So it’s not just about matching pieces. It’s about choosing something that feels like you.
And you definitely don’t need loads of them.
But one good co-ord that works with your colours, your style and your lifestyle can do a lot of heavy lifting in your summer wardrobe.
