Christmas gift guide
Every year I put together a JD Gift Guide, but the joy of it is that it’s a gift guide with a twist. Instead of helping you find the perfect present for someone else, it’s designed so you finally get the perfect gift.
It’s here to make sure you receive something you genuinely love this Christmas, because, frankly, we all know who puts in most of the hard work (and we deserve a lovely treat on Christmas too!)
All you need to do is send the link to the person who’ll be shopping for you.
I know it can feel a bit “odd” to ask for what you want at Christmas, like you’re ruining the surprise or taking away some of the magic.
But none of us question it when our kids do the same. They write lists to Santa, circle things in the Smyths catalogue (just like we used to with the Argos one), talk for days about what they might get… and even if they don’t receive everything, it gives us a brilliant steer on what will make them happy on the big day. Yet as adults we’re expected to “surprise” each other — and then we end up disappointed when we unwrap yet another bottle of French Connection perfume (especially when last year’s is still sitting half-used).
In my own family, we’ve solved this with a WhatsApp group where we share things we’d genuinely love, the little treats that feel a step above the everyday. We never get everything, and there’s still plenty of surprise on Christmas morning, but we do end up with gifts that bring real joy instead of wasted money.
Maybe that’s a bit un-romantic, but I’d much rather give someone something they truly love than guess and hope for the best.
This Gift Guide is simply an easier, more beautiful version of that idea. Everything has been carefully chosen for your season, with a mix of prices and gorgeous finds.
You can browse it yourself and drop heavy hints… or send the link straight over (without peeking!) and let them choose something wonderful for you. I’ll also be sending out the details via an email!
We’ve also made sure the guide was ready for Black Friday, because so many shops are running genuinely strong discounts this year. So if someone says “I’ve no idea what to get you,” pass them the link and let the list do the hard work.
A quick note: prices may shift as Black Friday sales change. The prices shown on the page are correct at the time we added them.
