I’ve seen a few of you chatting about glasses in the group lately specifically whether you should take your colour season into account when choosing a pair.

Now, this might not apply to everyone, but the principle is really useful to understand. Whether it’s your glasses, your hair colour, your makeup, or even accessories, the question is the same: should your colour season influence your choices?

And the answer is 100% YES. Your colour season is such a helpful guide when it comes to anything that sits near your face.

A few years ago, I realised I could no longer read train times properly (or the tv, other cars on the road ;) - not ideal), and I ended up needing glasses. I’m still a fairly new glasses wearer and only need them now and then, but I remember so clearly how overwhelming it was the first time I went to choose a pair.

There were so many options, price points, styles, shapes, colours. Do you want something subtle? Something bold? What even suits your face shape?! It was a lot.

The second time around was easier. I’d had my colours done by then, and I knew that something cool-toned would work best for me. That narrowed it down straight away and gave me a bit of confidence when trying pairs on.

If you’re a glasses wearer (or even just thinking about getting a pair), here’s your reminder: your colour season isn’t just about clothes. It can guide your decisions in all sorts of ways and make shopping so much easier too.

So if you do want to bring your colour season into your glasses search (which I totally recommend), here are some starting points for each season:

🌸 Spring

Think warm, light, and fresh. Springs tend to glow in golden tones, so look for:

  • Warm tortoiseshells

  • Light gold or peachy metals

  • Soft corals, camel, and even a pop of mint or aqua

  • Avoid anything too dark or heavy it can weigh down your features

☀️ Summer

You’ll shine in cool, soft, and muted tones. Great options for you include:

  • Rose gold or silver metal frames

  • Dusty pinks, lavender, soft navy, or dove grey

  • Transparent or frosted finishes can be really flattering

  • Stay away from warm tones like orangey browns or brassy gold

🍂 Autumn

Rich, warm, and earthy is your sweet spot. Think:

  • Deep tortoiseshell, copper, or bronze metals

  • Olive green, mustard, rust, or teal acetate

  • Warm wood tones or matte finishes look beautiful on you

  • Avoid cooler greys or stark black frames, they can feel too harsh

❄️ Winter

You can handle bold, high-contrast looks. Think strong and striking:

  • Black, icy silver, or deep navy are perfect

  • Clear acetate or jewel tones like emerald, cobalt, or magenta

  • Crisp white or bold colour blocking works brilliantly

  • Avoid anything too soft, muted, or warm, they can wash you out

I am pretty chilled about colour analysis stuff, and you know I have a ‘know the rules to break them’ mindset, but I do think this is definitely when you should think about it and use your knowledge to help you invest in a pair you love. Glasses are on your face all day, so the colour really does matter. Finding a pair in your season's palette will help your skin glow, your eyes pop, and your whole face feel more “put together”, even if you're not wearing makeup!

💡Same goes for sunglasses. And here’s a sneaky tip: it’s not just the frame you want to think about, the lens colour matters too. I bought a pair recently that were perfect on paper a cool-toned frame that should work really well for a Winter like me. But the lens? A warm brown. And now every time I put them on, something just feels off. The tone clashes with my skin and throws the whole look off balance.

So, if you’re investing in a pair of glasses this is a brilliant time to lean on what you’ve learned from your colour season. It doesn’t mean you need to play it safe or boring.
