Adding fun laces to trainers
Sometimes you notice a trend that everyone is wearing and realise it’s so simple, that it would be effortless to add into your own wardrobe.
This is one of those trends, and it’s also one that feels super joyful.
Coloured laces have been absolutely everywhere recently. Lots of brands have started designing trainers with dual-coloured laces (like in the picture above), and I’ve also noticed lots of bold laces paired with more neutral trainers.
This is probably the easiest (and cheapest!) way to make your current shoes feel more interesting without buying a whole new pair.
It’s such a tiny detail, but it completely changes the feel of an outfit. You could easily buy a few different colours and swap them depending on your outfit, and you can find coloured laces really easily online. A pop of red in a neutral look. Cobalt blue with denim. Bright pink peeking out of otherwise simple trainers. It gives outfits that little “intentional” touch that makes them feel more styled.
This is also such a lovely way to bring your colour season into your outfits in a subtle way too. Winters could go for cobalt, cherry red, bright white or hot pink. Summers might suit softer blue-greys or dusky pinks. Springs could have fun with coral or aqua. Autumns with olive, rust or mustard.
You can also use ribbon in place of laces, which gives such a lovely softer, more feminine effect. If you do this, just lightly melt the ends of synthetic ribbon with a lighter to stop them fraying.
Such an easy little Joyful Dressing trick.
