Light Jackets
The reason I love spring dressing so much is honestly because of light jackets.
I know that sounds ridiculous, but….
In winter, it’s all about survival. Layers, scarves, hats, big coats. The outfit underneath barely gets a chance.
In summer, it’s often too hot for layers — and sometimes outfits can feel a little flat. Layers are what bring depth and interest.
Autumn? It’s trench season. Everyone reaches for the trench.
But spring…
Spring is the sweet spot. You can wear an interesting jacket and actually see it. It becomes part of the outfit, and it adds that layer of interest to an outfit that makes look good really easy!
I’ve put together some of my favourite buys this week, and there are a few things I’ve noticed about the type of jackets in store:
• Funnel necks — jackets that button higher and frame the face
• Quilted styles — still around, slightly boxier, sometimes collarless and they seem to be less patterned and more block in colour.
• Sportier, athletic-inspired jackets — clean, simple, a bit of edge
Just small shifts in shape and detail from what was in the shops last season.
