Midi Skirts
You lot have been asking for midi skirts… so here we go!
I’ve had a few requests lately in the group for links to midi skirts, so I’ve rounded up some of my favourite finds from the high street.
A few of these are from the slightly pricier high street brands, but many are currently in the sale and now at a much more affordable price point. Definitely worth a look to get something special and that makes you feel lovely!
💃 Body shape (if you’re thinking about it):
As always, rules are there to guide, not to restrict. If you're curious about what works for your body shape, here’s what the ‘style advice’ says:
Triangle
Stick to simple shapes and streamlined silhouettes. Avoid ruffles near the hips and over the bum area.Oval
Go for soft A-lines or skirts with structure. Avoid clingy fabrics, look for flow and gentle drape.Rectangle
Add shape with pleats, tiers, ruffles or wrap styles.Inverted Triangle
Balance your shape with ruffles, prints or volume on the bottom. A wrap or tiered midi works well.Hourglass
Choose fitted or belted styles to show off your waist. Wraps and high-waisted midis are ideal.
I always also take note of where seams sit on these skirts, as sometimes a seam over a bottom can look a bit odd.
But as we all know, style isn’t about following rules to the letter. I’m a triangle shape, so I usually go for simpler skirt shapes without lots of ruffles or volume around the hips.
BUT... I happily break the ‘rules’ when it comes to colour and pattern. I just love a bold, colourful midi skirt and if it brings me joy, I wear it.
