Styling sparkles post Christmas

At Christmas, it suddenly feels acceptable to wear all the sparkly pieces we love.

Full-on sequin skirts.
Jumpers with a shimmer running through them.

And then… Christmas ends, and that permission seems to disappear overnight, which is kinda annoying because we don’t buy clothes to only wear them for one month a year.

It’s like sequins are only allowed when there’s tinsel involved.

But just like I was talking about last week, about how the feeling of Christmas dressing is something we don’t need to pack away on Boxing Da, the same applies to the clothes themselves.

Sequins aren’t the problem.
It’s the way we’ve been taught to categorise them.

Yes, they’re not subtle. But that doesn’t mean they’re only for December.

Sequins can work:

  • in everyday outfits, when balanced properly

  • at birthdays, dinners, holidays, weddings

  • any time you want your outfit to feel a bit more interesting - they are perfect layering piece for adding interest and texture.

You can keep wearing sequins, the trick is to just anchor them with everyday pieces, basically keep everything else boring!

Here’s some ideas to show how sequins can absolutely earn their place beyond Christmas (I wear a sparkly top a lot to make my boiler suit look less utilitarian)
