Trending looks for Autumn 2026
At the start of every season, I’m always looking to see what’s coming into trend.
But for me, it’s not really about buying up everything new or feeling like we need to add a load of new things to our wardrobes.
Honestly, I have absolutely no interest in buying something just because it’s on trend. What I do want to know is what we’re going to be seeing in the shops, because then when I spot something new, I can start thinking about whether it could work for me and whether it might work for you too.
And I also think it’s not just about looking at the individual trends in isolation.
It’s about how people are actually wearing them.
What are they putting together? What shapes are they combining? What shoes are they wearing with them? What colours are starting to appear together? What makes an outfit feel fresh for this particular season?
That early look at how people are actually putting outfits together is the starting point of me putting together the seasonal style guide (which i’m starting next week)
So, this is my little Autumn 2026 trend round-up.
A few of the things I’ve started noticing, what I think is interesting about them, and most importantly, how you might actually wear them.
Texture & embellishment
I love this trend, becasue whilst i’m not neccessarily a blingy person I do love to have something interestng in an item of clothing, so It feels like it’s a step away from the more ‘modern luxury’ that has previoulsy dominated the trends.
I’ve already snapped up the M&S denim shirt and I am very keen on the leather tassel jacke.
This is basically just about adding something fun to your wardrobe, that has a little bit of soemthing extra about it.
Checks
Checks are having a big moment this autumn, and it doesn’t seem to just be in the usual blazer or jacket.
I’m seeing them across trousers, skirts, dresses, shirts and coats, with different types of checks being mixed together too.
It feels like a really easy trend to dip into because you might already have something checked in your wardrobe that you can bring back out this season.
And if you do want something new, there are plenty of ways to try it without going full head-to-toe tartan!
Funnel necks
This is possibly a bit of a more niche trend, but there has been a distinct change to the collar shapes of lots of the jackets in the shops at the moment.
There is a real move towards funnel necks, where the collar sits higher around the neck rather than folding back into a traditional collar.
I’m seeing it particularly on jackets and coats, but it’s also starting to appear on knitwear and tops.
It’s a small detail, but it can make a really simple jacket feel much more modern, and it’s definitely something to look out for as you’re browsing the shops this autumn.
Rugby shirts
Rugby shirts are definitely having a moment this autumn, and I think this is one of those trends that is really easy to wear.
We’re seeing lots of stripes, bold collars and sporty details appearing in the shops, but they’re being styled in a much more everyday way. Think a rugby shirt with jeans, wide-leg trousers or even a skirt to add a bit of a feminine twist.
It’s a nice way to add a bit of colour and personality to an otherwise simple outfit, and there are plenty of different versions around depending on how sporty you want to go.
