Striped Knit + Statement Denim + Roll Neck + Metallic details
This is pattern mixing done right. I mentioned in a recent joydrop that there are a lot of fun jeans around at the moment, so I thought I would focus todays outfit formala on how to pair those with the fun knits we own.
I’ve seen quite a few tie cardigans in the shops lately (the trend we have all been wearing all summer has just had a seasonal update) so I thought I would pull that in as well, and show how you can wear a fun top half and bottom half (if you want to!)
The bold pink-and-brown striped cardigan adds personality, while the leopard-print denim grounds it with texture and depth. I haven’t shown it in the image, but I would also layering a navy roll neck underneath, keeping you warm and creating that column of colour we love underneath an outfit.
I’ve added a structured plum jacket for contrast, it sharpens the softness of the knit and stops the whole outfit from looking too girly. The Converse keep things casual, and the silver bag and jewellery lift the look just enough to make it feel thought-through rather than thrown on.
This cardigan is border on the season for winter, but the other colours pull it firmly into the winter season (remember we can sill wear things we love if they don’t sit perfectly in our season)
Swap the Converse for chunky ankle boots (or wear thermal socks!)
Add a long navy or charcoal coat over the outfit for extra warmth (some people wear coats over jackets, but im not sure that, that always works!)
Layer silver accessories to echo the cool tones in the outfit, they always work!
Finish with a berry lip to tie it all together.
Seasonal alternatives:
Not a Winter season? No problem. You can still recreate this look using items in your own palette.
The trick is to keep the foundation neutral, your printed denim and roll neck, and let your cardigan and accessories bring the outfit to life. Whether that’s warm coral and gold for Springs, the butter yellow for Summers (still on trend now that the weathers got coldeR) or rich rust and moss greens for Autumns.
