Colour Wheel
You might have read Friday's email and already had a play with some of the different colour combinations in the new JD Colour Wheel. I've absolutely loved seeing so many of you exploring it already, and the feedback has been amazing!
But today I wanted to go into a little more detail about the different types of colour combinations you'll find in the wheel, and show you what they can actually look like when translated into outfits.
The combinations are based on the principles of a traditional colour wheel, which helps us understand how different colours work together.
Of course, the JD Colour Wheel takes these principles and adapts them to your own colour season, so the specific shades and combinations you see will depend on your palette.
But I thought it would be helpful to show you three examples of these different approaches to combining colours, so you can start to see how they create quite different effects when we put them together in an outfit.
Hopefully, seeing these combinations in actual outfits helps you understand a little more about how the different colour pairings work and the effect they can create!
Of course, these are examples using a traditional colour wheel. The beauty of the JD Colour Wheel is that it takes these same principles and finds combinations using colours from your own seasonal palette.
And remember, you don't have to wear all the colours in equal amounts! You can always introduce a neutral, use a softer shade or add just a little pop of colour through your accessories to make a combination feel more wearable.
So, here's something I'd love you to try this week...
Pick something colourful from your wardrobe, find the closest shade on your JD Colour Wheel and see if you can create a combination you haven't worn before.
You might be surprised by what you come up with, using clothes you already own!
I'd love to see your experiments over in the Collective, especially if you've discovered a combination you'd never have thought to try before!
