Picking out glasses

I always think one of the unexpected joys of knowing your colour season is how much easier it makes decisions around things you wouldn’t necessarily expect, choosing your nail colours, dyeing your hair and yes, choosing your glasses.

If you’re someone who wears glasses and you haven’t thought about your colour season when choosing them, you are 100% missing a trick.

It can be massively overwhelming to choose the right pair. There are hundreds of choices, you’re stood in a store under that awful lighting, and somehow you’re expected to make a decision about something you’re going to wear on your face every single day.

But knowing your season is a bit of a cheat code.

Because you already know what types of colours are going to work best for you. So rather than starting with every single frame in the shop, you can immediately narrow down your options.

And glasses which sit directly on our face, really do make a difference when it comes to your colour season.

Spring

Think warm, light and fresh. Spring glasses look gorgeous in shades like peach, honey, caramel, coral, turquoise, fresh greens and golden tortoiseshell. Look for colours that feel bright and clear rather than dark, dusty or muted.

Summer

Think cool, soft and light. Look for gentle shades like dusty rose, lavender, powder blue, soft grey, cool taupe and muted berry. Summer colours have a slightly softened, almost misty quality rather than being bright, warm or highly contrasting.

Autumn

Think warm, rich and earthy. Look for colours like rust, olive, ochre, chocolate, deep teal and warm tortoiseshell. Autumn colours have depth and warmth, so think rich and grounded rather than bright, icy or pastel.

Winter

Think cool, clear and high contrast. Look for bold shades like black, crisp white, cobalt blue, emerald green, true red and vivid pink. Winter colours are usually clear and striking rather than muted or earthy, so don't be afraid of a stronger frame.
